Ameno, 2008
Ameno is a small town located in the hills above Lake Orta in Piedmont, Italy. Awarded a residency at the town’s Associazione Asilo Bianco, which was looking for artists to hike the regional trails and make a body of work inspired by the territory, Paola Ferrario created a portfolio of eight grids of photographs, numbering 100 altogether. In them she chronicles her exploration of the paths around Ameno as filtered through her memories of italianità, or Italian identity.
